Mountains, Lakes and Cows... Oh My!

We ran up the stairs to see if we could make it to the other lake before the fog reached it, but sadly we were too late. Lago de Enol was covered in fog. Sad for only a little bit, we thought back to our beautiful, sunny, lakeside lunch and made the decision to go down to see the Covadonga cave.

Several people in my group fell asleep during the ride down to the cave, and we woke up to realize that we had only 30 minutes to see the cave. While I was sad that we never got to see the cathedral that was next to the cave, I was so excited to have finally visited the cave where so much history had taken place. Reading about cool historical events is one thing, but actually getting to explore the setting of famous events is something that's hard to forget.
