Nicole's First Few Weeks in the Dominican Republic

It is so beautiful and every day, I walk past a piece of Dominican history, which is awesome!

I have been here for about three weeks, and it has definitely been an adjustment, which came as a surprise to me. My mom is from the Dominican Republic so I grew up in a Spanish-speaking household, eating Dominican food, dancing the bachata and merengue, having Vicks rubbed all over me for just a cough, and so on. But life in the United States is just different than it is in the Dominican Republic. But this is why I chose to study abroad in the Dominican Republic-I wanted a change, I wanted to experience a different way of life, and I wanted to feel more connected to a country that I am so proud to call a second home. It’s been interesting so far, but I am looking forward to the next few weeks, especially because we are going to be learning it all together. I am looking forward to talking with you all soon!
