My Christmas Traditions

Introduction:

Christmas, December 25th, is definitely the most popular holiday in the United States and in my family too. The origin of the holiday lies with the birth of Jesus Christ and since then, many other customs have developed and become a staple of the holiday season

It is important to note that America is a country filled with many different types of people-- with different backgrounds, religious beliefs, and traditions. Thus, Christmas is not celebrated by everyone, but I will share with you how my family celebrates the Christmas season.

What tradition did I learn about?:

Though the celebration does not begin until late December, many stores begin selling decorations, memorabilia, food, etc. as early as October. I also start playing Christmas music non-stop around this time and it drives everyone else crazy to hear the same songs over and over again. But I don't mind, I love all the songs! Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are national holidays. As a result, beginning in late November, entire communities, towns, and cities put up lights and wreaths to celebrate the holiday season. Christmas trees and light-up reindeer fill city sidewalks to prepare for the holiday season. In Santa Barbara, they have a Christmas parade every year, where different organizations either decorate holiday-themed floats, play music, or perform a dance number.
