My Christmas Traditions

Every year, "Christmas tree farms" are set up temporarily in multiple places in the city, where families go and pick out the tree they want to keep in their home. As a result, many trees are chopped down to give people many different options of types of trees (Douglas, Noble, Spruce, etc.) and sizes (ranging from about 4 feet to 12 feet). All the unchosen or dying trees that cannot be sold are often either shredded or thrown away. In addition, after the holiday season, most families toss their used Christmas trees on the curb to be thrown away. This is a huge waste of natural resources and has a negative impact on the environment. This is not only an issue of Christmas trees, but a reminder to always think about where your food or products come from and how they will be given back to the Earth. Sustainability and environmental impact are important considerations for every decision you make, even during the holiday season!
