Rica Comida!

Introduction:

I arrived to Quito this week, and my peers and I stayed at a hotel in the city. For meal times, we had to go find different places to go eat for lunch and dinner. Sometimes we had a really hard finding a good sit-down place because there are mostly cafes or fast food restaurants near where I live. But the food that we did find was very delicious.

What food did I try?:

I tried a lot of different foods so far this week! But the one food that was new to me was a soup called Sopa de Locro. This soup has a yellowish color and it is the thickness of squash soup. Sopa de Locro also has cut up cheese on top along with a piece of avocado. Have you every had something similar?

Earlier in the week, I had eggs and ham for breakfast along with toast and butter. For breakfast, I also had a fruit blend juice and fresh banana. I had green tea with honey every morning.

On another occasion, I went to Vaco y Vaca, a restaurant. There I ate a dish that had beef cut up in chunks and a lot of French fries with a fried egg. There were too many French fries; I couldn't eat the entire meal. Who thought I would say "no more" to French fries! Most recently, with my soup, I had a secondary dish that had white rice, chicken drumstick, and a sweet fried plantain. I have to say, this was the most delicious meal I have had so far!
