Who is Chinh?

The students still manage to come to class on time in the morning. Chinh, like many others, receives a lot of homework. This means that Chinh and other students do not have a lot of free time. When Chinh does have free time, she likes to spend it doing relaxing hobbies. She told me that she "will play games on [her] smartphone if [she has] free time." In Vietnam, the Facebook phone app is incredibly popular. Selfie apps, or apps that allow you to edit photos, are also very popular among my students.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Chinh said, "I can speak Vietnamese (of course, [it is my] mother tongue), English, Chinese and a little bit Korean." When she told me this, I was quite surprised. I knew that she could speak Vietnamese, English, and Chinese, but I did not know that she could speak Korean. In fact, I learned that she has even traveled to Korea before. I wish that I could have asked her for some travel tips!

As for saying "hello," Chinh explained that "there are many ways to say hello in Vietnamese." Basically, the way Chinh says "hello" depends on who she is talking to. She told me, "If I talk to my parents, I will say 'con chào bố mẹ' (con chow bo me). If I meet teachers, I will say 'em chào cô' (em chow go). But if [I talk to] my friends, I just say 'chào' (chow) or 'hế lô (hello).'"

Do you have pets?:

Chinh has "two dogs and two cats." Her cats are very shy, and they do not like strangers. I have seen the cats before, but they always hide when I visit.
