This week I moved from Bangkok to Tha Sala. These two areas are about an eight-hour drive apart or a one-hour flight.
Tha Sala has been the farthest I have traveled so far! I moved from a city to a beach town in South Thailand! So far I have flown 25 hours from Georgia to Bangkok, and then another hour from Bangkok to Tha Sala.
The other teachers at my school have been showing me around Tha Sala in their cars. When I want to go somewhere, I either walk or bike around town. There is also a songthaew (a big truck with benches in the back) that goes from Tha Sala to the main city near where I live. From the city, I could get on a bus or van that will take me to many different towns nearby!
Yesterday, I was able to go into the city. My town is called Tha Sala, but it is in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Provinces in Thailand are similar to states in the United States. The main city where I live is also called Nakhon Si Thammarat. The city has temples and large street markets on the weekends where people all come together to buy different types of food and clothing. Most of the food is fried or baked.
