Hola (Hello)! My name is Lisbet Jackson. I’m a college student currently studying in Ecuador. The word ecuador means “equator” in Spanish. The country is named for its location on the equatorial line of the Earth, which is the imaginary line that runs right horizontally along the Earth’s middle. Because we are so close to the equator, we have 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of nighttime every day of the year!

I grew up surrounded by the mountains in Colorado Springs, CO. It was a beautiful place to live, and it gave me a strong love for the outdoors. Whenever I can, I want to be in nature. Sometimes that means going for hikes or kayaking. Other times it means having a picnic or reading a book in the park. As well as being outdoors, I’ve also always loved making art.  I dance, make pottery and ride a unicycle! In Colorado, my parents run a theater company, so I grew up around artists and performers. I always loved hearing new stories about the different lives people lead. Being around these artists made me more and more curious about the rest of the world, and I began to want to travel.

When I graduated highschool, I moved to upstate New York to study at Bard College.
