Since I have been living in Florence since August, I have had a lot of time to adjust to the Italian way of life. I live on the third floor of a large apartment building. Because the buildings are so old around here, the stairways can be very steep and narrow. My building is extremely lucky as we have an elevator, however, I need a special key to use it. More exercise for me! I share my apartment with five other American girls; Sunny, Ashlyn, Maia, Molly and Callie. Despite all coming from different parts of America, we all get along very well.

Life in Florence is very different from my life back in the United States. At home, I have to take a car everywhere and take a car to get to any store, but here I can find everything I need within walking distance. On my street, Via de’ Conti, I have a grocery store, my favorite panini shop, two cafes and even a gym. The only thing that reminds me of home is how often I hear English being spoken in the streets. Because this is a common destination for vacations, many shop owners learn English so that they can communicate with tourists.
