Finding Balance in A Big City

Each neighborhood has space for people to walk their dogs, have picnics, run and more. Parks allow for people to escape the busyness of the city and retreat into a peaceful environment. Compact buildings can make any space feel suffocating, but the open space in parks can help alleviate that feeling.

What challenges do people face living in this environment?:

The main challenge of living within Madrid is the hustle and bustle of it all. From six in the morning to midnight, there is always noise surrounding the area. The city never sleeps. While this type of environment can be exciting and fun, at times it may be distracting and bothersome. With that, the parks are a huge aid to this challenge. A peaceful environment can be steps away, even in the heart of Madrid.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

Madrid draws people with its sense of excitement and opportunity. People from within Spain and all around the world come to Madrid to fulfill a purpose. The city environment is a part of the experience. The key for someone who is not used to a bustling city environment is to find balance in their routine. People find ways to take part in the excitement and enjoy nature. Additionally, just an hour outside of Madrid's city limits, there are beautiful mountains (sierras) and fields that are easily accessible by public transportation. With a little bit of effort, one can easily achieve that balance.
