The weather this week was great. Weather in Morocco typically varies throughout the day. I'm getting used to it being really hot during the day and very cold during the evening.
This week I saw the beautiful and unique Barbary macaques. Barbary macaques can be found in the African countries of Algeria and Morocco. They are relatively small at about 30 inches long and 29 pounds in weight, and they tend to live in colonies (larger groups). Barbary macaques are herbivores, so they don't eat other animals. Their diet typically consists of leaves, fruit and insects.
The coolest thing I saw in nature this week was definitely the Barbary macaques. To watch how they calmy interacted with visitors in the cedar forest was truly amazing. Visitors come to take pictures of the monkeys and they are able to feed them as well. By holding a peanut in your hand and being really still, you can convince the monkeys to take the peanut right out of your hand!
