Akwaaba! Welcome!

I was not expecting to see tall buildings, but there were quite a few. We even passed a shopping mall! When we got to the campus, I was assigned my dorm room and roommate.

The dorm I am staying at is very nice. It has a big fan that keeps the room cool and a balcony where we can sit outside to enjoy the day. The beds have posts to hold my mosquito net in place while I sleep. My roommate is another student from my university in California. We are very good friends now! I remember the first night being very hard for me because it was too hot in my room, but I am slowing getting used to it.

Now that I have been here for almost two months, I have gotten accustomed to life in Ghana, although, I do get homesick sometimes. Since I am seven hours ahead of my family in California, I must make sure they are awake before I try to call to say hello. The time difference between Ghana and New York is four hours, so when I wake up in the morning, you are all still asleep.

I am so happy to be here in Ghana! I have learned so much about this beautiful culture and I look forward to sharing more information with you!
