What activity was the most fun this week?:

My favorite activity has been running an English camp for a secondary school in Kuala Lumpur called SMK Seri Permaisuri. Here in Malaysia, secondary school includes middle school and high school. The camp lasted half a day and was full of fun activities that let the students practice their English outside of the classroom. We played games, sang songs and ate snacks. Meeting the students was my favorite part!

What did I read this week?:

I am in Malaysia to teach students English but I am also a student. I am learning the national language, Malay. This week I have been reading song lyrics to learn a simple Malaysian lullaby as well as some other Malay greetings and words. I'll teach you an important word: friend. Friend in Malay is kawan.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

Do you know the game Simon Says? During the English camp, my students and I played Simon Says to practice words for different body parts. The hardest word was 'wrist'!

Other news from this week:

Did you know that there is royalty in Malaysia? Although there is a Prime Minister of the country there is also a king for each Malaysian state. There are nine states in Malaysia so there are nine kings!
