Just Ask the Kids!

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

(Students here often play sports after school. Their favorites include soccer, netball, badminton, ping pong and volleyball.)

Who is your favorite famous person?:

Arianna Grande, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth and K-pop stars like BTS.

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

American pop music as well as Malaysian music. Both kinds are on the radio.

What would you like to be when you grow up?:

(Students want to be like their parents so many of them want to be firemen, teachers, doctors and nurses.)

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?:

(My students want to travel the world. They would like to go to: Paris, Korea, China, Singapore, New York and other places in the U.S.)

What do you know or think about the United States?:

(My students do not know tooo much about the United States but they do know that in some parts of the country, it snows. They also know that, at least on the east coast, there are four seasons. Here, they really only have two seasons.)

What questions do you have for kids in the United States?:

How are you?
What do you eat for lunch?
What sports do you have in your country?
Do you have prefects at your school? (This is a special status for some students who do very well in school)
What do you wear to school?
What special foods do you like?
What languages do you speak?
What classes do you have in school?
Where do you like to study? In the library? In a classroom?
