Trying New Foods!

How is the food prepared?:

Gazpacho is made with tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, garlic, red pepper, vinegar, and olive oil. Also, some salt and pepper, like most foods. All these delicious ingredients that I love individually are then blended until smooth. The mixture is so smooth that you can drink it, even though I would not just because I am not a fan of gazpacho. The soup mixture is next placed in the fridge for at least an hour, which is strange for me who is used to eating my tomato soup hot! This example of gazpacho has taught me to understand that different countries have different foods, and I then remind myself to celebrate these cultural differences and not to be afraid of trying a new food, even if that food ends up not being something I would choose to eat again!

Tortilla de patata is most commonly made using six eggs, three potatoes, one onion, one green pepper, two cups of olive oil and salt to season. Yummy! My mouth is watering just thinking about this food! These tortillas are usually shared between a group of people. You boil the potatoes, cut them, then put them on the grill and add the rest of the ingredients. Once finished it looks like a really thick omelet! I am actually learning how to make this dish so I can make it for my family when I return to the U.S.A.   

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

The main ingredient in gazpacho is tomatoes while the main ingredient in tortilla de patatas is potatoes. Potatoes and tomatoes are two of the main vegetable crops in Spain.
