My Way of Traveling

Introduction:

The city of Tbilisi is quite large and needs many forms of transportation to keep up with its growing population. The streets are small because the city hadn't planned to grow as large as it has become. There are many ways to get around the city and the country of Georgia.

How do people get around?:

A majority of Tbilisi citizens get around by public transportation. If you want to get through the city quickly, you can take the Metro, an underground train that travels throughout Tbilisi. But the most popular transportation is public buses. Somedays, the buses are so packed you feel like you are floating among people. The buses take you through the city and are safe to ride in. In order to get outside of the city, people can take the train or mini buses (called Marshrutkas.)

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

At first, I felt anxious. I wasn't used to being in close proximity to so many strangers at once. I had grown up only riding in cars and never needed to ride a bus. After a week, taking the bus became second nature to me.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

When hanging out with any of my Georgian friends, they always advise me of the best bus route to get where I need to be. Most young adults don't own cars in the city.
