How was the weather this week?:

The beginning of the week was beautiful. The air was cool but not freezing, and the sun was shining throughout the entire day. By Wednesday, the sky grew dark and the temperature dropped almost 20 degrees. A large amount of fog covered certain cities to which I traveled.  The weekend was full of nonstop rain.

What animals did I see this week? :

Pigeons are everywhere here! I could barely walk down the street without running into them. They aren't afraid of people at all— I even watched one fly directly into a man!

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

I went to a little town outside of Lisbon named Sintra. A very thick fog blanketed the entire town when I arrived, but it made it feel sort of magical. All of the tree branches looked bent and crooked, making it seem like I was on the set of a fairytale.

Other Nature News from this week:

While talking to a local, I learned that the largest wave ever surfed was found on Portugal's coast. The record was set by Garrett McNamara, who surfed a wave more than 80 feet tall!
