What main languages are spoken here?:

The main languages spoken in Israel have not changed. However, when visiting the Dead Sea and Ein Gedi this week, two tourist locations, I heard many other languages. There was a lot of English, Spanish, and French, languages that I have not been used to hearing while living here. I was speaking with one woman who was also from New Jersey and spoke Spanish. I previously studied abroad in Spain and in college had a minor in Spanish, so I was excited to be able to use the language to communicate with someone here in Israel. However, when I was speaking with her, my Hebrew and Spanish were getting all mixed up, and it became a great blend of the two languages!  Thankfully, she was able to understand me, and we all had a lot of laughs.

What type of money is used here?:

As you learned from my previous blog post, the New Israeli Shekel is the currency that is used here. That has not changed, but I am trying to book a hotel or an AirBnB in Tel Aviv for when my family comes to visit in April. When I was Face-Timing them, their AirBnb prices were coming up in U.S. dollars, and mine were coming up in Shekel prices, so it was a bit confusing to do the math back and forth in my head to know and understand how much exactly each accommodation would cost! We have not yet decided on a place, but hopefully we'll do this week!
