German Kids' Lives

Introduction:

Max and Benny are brothers who live in Berlin with their mom, their 12-year-old sister, Antonia, and their au pair, who is one of my best friends. Benny is eight years old and goes to Schule, which is roughly equivalent to elementary school in the US. Max is 10 years old and goes to Gymnasium, which is like junior high and high school.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Max: I eat muesli [cereal] for breakfast. My favorite lunch is Spätzle, and for dinner I eat burgers, tacos or potato soup with sausages.
Benny: Muesli with yogurt or toast with jam. For lunch and dinner, I like to eat chili con carne or Hühnerfrikassee, which is chicken fricassee.

What is your house like?:

Max: It’s a red duplex, pretty big, with a nice garden. Benny: Big with a nice garden.

What chores do you have at home?:

Max: I have to clean my room, put my clothes away and make my bed. Benny: Cleaning my room and putting my clothes away.

What jobs do your parents have?:
