Hey everyone, I’m excited to (virtually) meet you all!

My name is Victoria, I’m 22 years old and I’m from New York City. This year I will be living and working in Berlin, Germany. It’s pretty surprising that I’m here, to be honest. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and when it was time for me to go to college, I didn’t go very far. I went to Hunter College in Manhattan, which is only an hour and a half subway ride away from where my parents, my older brother and our cat live. Since I’m going to be sharing my adventures with you, I should start off by telling you a bit about how I got here.

When I was younger, I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I started taking physics in high school, and it became my favorite class! I thought it was so cool that you could use physics to explain anything, from tiny atoms to the formation of the Universe and everything in between. But even after I fell in love with physics and decided to study it in college, I still wasn’t sure what job I wanted. The only physicists I knew were my high school teachers, and I wasn’t sure that I wanted to be a teacher.

Then, in my first year of college, I met physicists who study outer space for a living! They worked at my favorite place, the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), and I started working with them, researching stars and far-away planets.
