Saying Farewell from the "Middle Kingdom" of the World

While some people might not like the feeling of the big city, I think it is exciting to be around so many people living their own special lives.

Even though the Chinese are proud of their ancient culture, they are just as proud of how much progress China has made in the last 100 years. America is still the richest country in the world, but China has now become the second-richest country, and we are quickly becoming more like siblings than ever before. Sometimes brothers and sisters argue with each other, but it is important that we remember that we are all closely related by being people. We all want health and happiness for our families and friends.

The most important thing that I have learned in China is that the Chinese people are almost always incredibly kind. There have been so many times when complete strangers have helped me lift a heavy bag, given me directions, or encouraged me in studying Chinese. I have traveled to many parts of the world, and I can honestly say that the Chinese people are some of the nicest people on the planet.

In the future, the governments of the U.S. and China may not always agree, and there might be times when people tell you that China is a dark and scary country. The truth is that every place in the world has some bad people, but if you come here to visit and see for yourself, you will realize that most people in China are ready to welcome you with a smile so bright that it might surprise you.

Have a great rest of your school year and I hope we will talk more over video in the near future!

Sincerely,

Ryan
