Traveler Bio

你好 (Nǐ hǎo), Hello!

I’m Pakou Vang, a Hmong American originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Right now, I’m living in Taipei, Taiwan as an English teacher for the academic year, all thanks to the Fulbright program. In 2020, I earned a degree in apparel design and development from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, which is essentially a field within the fashion industry.

A bit about me – I love trying new foods, exploring new places, taking photos, hopping between cafes, and working on various crafts. During my free time, you’ll often find me immersed in web novels, graphic novels like Mangas and Manhwas, and indulging in my love for reading.

Back in 2018, I had the fantastic opportunity to study abroad in Nagasaki, Japan, which is situated in the southernmost part of the country. However, my journey in Taiwan is a first for me. It’s a fascinating island, nestled between China, Japan, and the Philippines. One of the primary languages spoken here is Mandarin, a language I’m eager to learn and use as I delve into this unique culture.

Taiwan is renowned for its diverse food choices, and I can’t wait to share my culinary adventures with you as I explore this beautiful island and sample its wide range of delicious dishes. Stay tuned for more updates!
