Was zu essen = What to eat?

For Mittagsessen (lunch), some of my favorite foods I've tried so far include a tofu burger on a pink bun and a salad-based bowl where the spinach was grown in-house. I even had a plate of spaghetti ice cream for lunch one day, which felt totally normal. If you can't tell, eating is a fun experience here. Berliners take their food game seriously, always trying to push the limits of what is normal. That's very representative of their entire culture.

For Abendsessen (dinner), the options are endless. I've had traditional German food such as meatballs and poatoes served with mustard. I've also had the famous döner more times than I count. If you don't remember, döner is like a Turkish burrito. Everthing always schmeckt sehr gut (tastes very good)!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I feel very lucky to have access to such a widespread selection of meals. In Indiana, where I'm from, the food is usually bland and simple because there's not a lot of outside influence. Here in Berlin, sometimes it feels as if I've traveled to another country when in reality I have only walked a few blocks from where I live! I'm also lucky  because I have enjoyed everything I've tried. Maybe it's because I'm not a picky eater, but I prefer to believe it's due to the awesome and expansive food culture here.

How is the food prepared?:

Not only are there all different types of foods, there are all different methods of preparation. I've told you about Berlin's famous currywurst in a past article, but I haven't mentioned all the different styles. It can be made vegan, spicy, hastily or even delicately.
