What main languages are spoken here?:

Spanish and specifically a dialect known as Castellano is the main language of Mexico, but there are over 64 indigenous languages that are very important to the history of the country and are still spoken to this day! Náhuatl, a language that comes from the Aztecs, is one of the most popular indigenous languages in the region. You may be surprised to learn that you already know some Náhuatl. The word "chocolate" comes from the Náhuatl chocolatl!

What type of money is used here?:

Mexico uses the Mexican peso as their currency. One U.S. dollar is equal to about 20 Mexican pesos. Physical money is a lot more common to use here than in the States, and coins in denominations, or amounts, of 10, 5 and 2 pesos are especially useful.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water is about 12 pesos, or a little more than 50 cents. 

What was the best meal this week?:

Yesterday, I went out with some classmates to get tortas, which are a special type of sandwich from Mexico. My favorite type is a toluqueña, which has milanesa (a kind of fried streak), chorizo (ground sausage) and queso (cheese).
