Big, Beautiful Elephants!

Introduction:

Botswana is home to the world's biggest elephant population! There are about 130,000 elephants in Botswana. Elephants are so common in the northern parts of Botswana that some people will see elephants just outside of their houses!

There are so many interesting facts to learn about elephants. Like when it makes noise through its trunk, it's called trumpeting! Funny enough, the noise they make really does sound like a trumpet. I'm so excited to share more with you about this beautiful animal!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

Elephants are a big, beautiful animal. A male elephant can weigh up to 13,000 pounds - that's about the weight of six cars! Elephants have great, big ears that they use as fans to cool themselves down. They also have two tusks that they can use for many activities like digging. You'll notice that they also have a long trunk. Their trunk is used for drinking and grabbing leaves to put in their mouth. Elephants also have little tails to swat away any bugs!

How did I feel when I saw it?:

The first time that I saw an elephant, I was in awe. I was amazed by the elephant's size and beauty. The first time that I saw an elephant, I was on a safari. We were driving down a dirt path and when we turned the corner, there were dozens of elephants. The scene took my breath away!
