A Day in the Life in Barcelona

Introduction:

I have a friend who has lived his whole life in Barcelona, Spain. He's more than 20 years old. He told me what it was like growing up in the city and going to school here.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

People often eat similar foods at breakfast and at lunch. For example, at breakfast sometimes my friend eats a bocadillo, which is a long, skinny sandwich on crusty bread. A ham or egg bocadillo is common for breakfast and for lunch. Do you ever eat ham or eggs for breakfast or lunch?

For dinner, people eat paella or fish. Paella is a rice dish native to Spain. People in Barcelona eat a lot of fish, because Barcelona is on the Mediterranean Sea.

What is your house like?:

When my friend was a kid, he lived in his parents' apartment in the middle of the city. The apartment was not very big. It just had bedrooms, a kitchen, bathrooms and a small space to relax in. In the city, most people rent apartments. They do not own their own homes.

What chores do you have at home?:

Just like any kid, my friend had to take out the trash, sweep or get groceries for his family. Do you have to do any of these chores?
