Bienvenidos a Mexico! (Welcome to Mexico!)

I always worked hard in school, and I was lucky to earn a scholarship to go to college at the University of Oklahoma. Part of my scholarship was specifically for studying abroad, so I figured I would give it a try. My first trip was one month in Tanzania, which is in eastern Africa. It was there that I discovered just how much I love to travel and experience new cultures firsthand! I loved it so much that I decided to go on a longer trip in college. This time, I would study for a semester in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador in South America. There was something amazing to me about being immersed in the Spanish language and taking classes in entrepreneurship, which is the process of starting a new business. Thus, when I found out about another scholarship to work in a startup in Mexico City after college graduation, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue.

Now, I live in an apartment with my husband near the center of Mexico City. I work in a small business that helps aspiring and current female entrepreneurs develop their ideas into flourishing startups. I take classes at a local university, where I also learn a lot about Mexican culture through my classmates. On the weekends, we travel to see new parts of Mexico or stay home and explore more of our very large city. We relax and read or hang out with our new friends. It's a much different life than the one I knew in Clarinda, but I have to say that I am learning to love it, too. I cannot wait to share more of it with you all soon!
