Chapatti!

A little bit of oil is added to the mixture while kneading. The dough is then left to sit for about 30 minutes. After, the dough is rolled and cut into small balls.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

During the colonialization of Uganda in the late 19th century, a British contractor brought people over from India on a three-year contract to build a railway. After the contract, some of the Indians chose to stay. Over time, the Indians became wealthy and their population increased. They also influenced the culture here, particularly through food which has made a lasting impact on the region.

Isn’t this interesting? It is so cool to see how food can give you a whole history lesson!
