Who Am I and Where Am I?

Currently, I live in the busy city of Ramallah, which is a major city in the West Bank/Palestinian Territories and is next to Jordan and Egypt.

While I like learning about the differences between cultures, I really love finding out what is similar and brings us together like food, music and especially dance!

Where am I?

Now that you’ve gotten to know me, let’s talk about where exactly in the world I am. I’ll give you a heads up, it may be a bit tough to find my location on a map and it may be hard to get a simple answer to some basic questions, but I will try my best along this journey to explain the incredibly rich, fascinating and complex place in which I am living.

  • The name(s): Currently, the West Bank/Palestinian Territories are not recognized as a sovereign state or independent country by all other countries in the world or by the United Nations. With that said, it is important to note that there are several different perspectives on what the West Bank/Palestinian Territories should be called. These perspectives and the names people choose to call this location are sometimes shaped depending on where that person is from, their religious and cultural identity and political opinions and experiences. Some of the different names include Palestinian Territories, West Bank and Gaza, Palestine, Israel, Judea and Samaria or the Occupied Territories. For this journey, I used the name “West Bank/Palestinian Territories,” because simply put, I am in the West Bank portion of the Palestinian Territories.
