I love how it is common for families to go to the park together in the evenings because it’s cool and breezy at night. Exercise equipment can be found in all parks, and dance groups often rehearse in parks at night. There are always groups of young people playing soccer in the parks as well.
When it came to making new friends, I was able to meet new people and make friends through my volunteer group. Many in the group are from Venezuela and left the country due to political reasons. In Barranquilla, we work to provide food and resources to other Venezuelans who fled to Barranquilla and live in extreme poverty. We have bonded over the work we do and also due to the fact that we are foreigners exploring and living in Colombia.
