There's not a lot of cuisine that's distinctly Australian. You've got your meat pies and sausage rolls, vegemite and pavlova, but I've yet to see an "Australian restaurant" out here. A lot of the food is typical Western cuisine such as burgers, pizza, and steaks.
That said, I'm very comfortable. It has been easy to adjust to life here and to make friends. Australians love American accents, and once I say I'm from California, nine times out of ten they start singing the theme song from "The O.C." ("Californiaaaa!").
