What main languages are spoken here?:

Just like in other areas of Senegal, Wolof is the primary language, but many people here speak English also.

What type of money is used here?:

Just like the rest of Senegal, the XOF is the accepted form of currency.  In general, you can assume that about $2 USD is the same as a 1000 XOF note.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

The prices are the same as in Dakar: 250 XOF ($0.42 USD).

What was the best meal this week?:

I ate some great fish and rice at a restaurant near the beach.

What music did I listen to this week?:

I didn't get a chance to listen to much music this week, except on local radio in taxi cabs. Wally Seck is a popular artist you hear anytime you turn on the radio.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

As part of my research, I met Bombardier, a great wrestling champion in Senegal.

What did I read this week?:

This week I read a lot by the French anthropologist Dominique Chevé, re-read some sections from Rudolf Ware's The Walking Qur'an and started La sacre du Ceddo by Alioune Badara Bèye.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

No games or organized sports this week, but I did go running.
