Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I have traveled over 1,000 miles this month...I wonder what that is in kilometers? Most of the world uses metric, but as an American, it can be difficult to travel and use kilometers and meters.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

I am not sure how far I've traveled so far, but that is because I usually sleep on the trains! It's important when you travel somewhere for the first time to stay awake though, just in case you have to switch trains or the train cars are moved at a station.

How did I get around this week?:

The trains in Finland are very easy to use and quick, too! I wish that we had more trains back in the United States as it would make traveling much easier. Trains in the U.S. are also more expensive, and a trip that might cost $70 in the U.S. may only cost 7 euros in Finland.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I had never tried rock climbing before, thankfully my friend was there to "belay" me and teach me the "ropes," literally! Rock climbing, even indoors, is safe only if you follow good climbing practice and have a partner who is experienced. Just like scuba diving, caving, white water rafting and sky diving, many activities that could possibly be very dangerous are much safer when you follow the rules and use good teamwork and common sense.
