Meet your travel partner, Ariana!

We met while volunteering with a club called Students for Environmental Action. We all care a lot about the environment, so we loved to go on hikes, pick up litter and help make our university a more environmentally-friendly place! I met most of my best friends because of my love for nature.

I also love being active. This means I like to garden and go hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking, running… and do anything else fun that’s outside! Some of my favorite memories happened when I was having fun outside. For example, the best job I ever had was living in a tent and being a camp counselor. I got to go hiking and play in the garden and see farm animals every day. That’s where I met one of my best friends, Ms. Debi. Maybe you know her? We’ve been on lots of adventures together!

I also love learning and being curious. That’s why I love studying economics in school. Economics is the study of how people make choices about what they need and want. Economics has a lot of math, reading and critical thinking. My classes in Austria will teach me a lot about economics. In one of my classes I will compare the economy in the United States to the economy in Austria. This class will answer questions like, “how are banks in Austria and the United States the same and different?” In another class I will learn how Austria decides to use economics to make laws and help people that are struggling. This class will answer questions like, “what’s the best way to feed people that don’t have enough money or food?” Besides economics, I will also be taking a class to learn German.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me. You’ve learned about how…
