Food in the U.K.

I didn't know how I would like this at first because I have always eaten my eggs scrambled, but after eating them a few times, I have come to enjoy them being prepared sunny-side up. The sausages and bacon are fried. The bread is toasted, and the beans are baked.

For fish and chips, the fish is fried in a bread batter.  People will often put lemon juice or vinegar on the fish to give it extra flavor.

The chips, french fries, are fried as well, just like in America.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Fish and chips are very much tied to English culture. The two food items used to be completely separate. Chips became popular in England after Sir Walter Raleigh brought potatoes back to England in the 17th century. Chips were an inexpensive food item that became a main part of peoples' diets in the more industrial parts of northern England, while fish was more popular in the east end of London.

Nobody really knows how the two food items came together, but the dish soon became a favorite. It grew so popular that it became a national dish in England. The first fish and chips shops began opening in the mid-1600s.

The English breakfast is also deeply rooted in England's culture. Breakfast was a way for the upper classes to show off their wealth and talents. Wealthy people would often serve full breakfasts to their guests to show off their social status and the talents of their cooks. Over the years, breakfast became very refined and elegant, and with the passage of more time, the full breakfast became a tradition way for families from all backgrounds to start their day.
