Traveler Bio

Hi there! My name is Nikita, and I am 22 years old. I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts but I went to college in Connecticut at UConn! My passions include dance, reading and travel! I have been involved in health sciences research since the age of 16, when I had my first internship at the Boston Children's Hospital. This internship inspired me to stay curious about science, and I studied biology in college.

Here in Sydney, I am exploring genetic traits that could be associated with Alzheimer's disease, a form of dementia. Dementia is a very serious condition that results in a loss of memory and function over time. Every three seconds, someone in the world is diagnosed with it! While I am working on my own projects, I am spending time meeting individuals with dementia and other cognitive impairments, and learning how the disease affects their abilities. I will be returning to the U.S. later this year and starting medical school, where I hope to continue helping people overcome disease and live long, healthy lives!

In the meantime, I'm excited to share my experiences abroad with you!
