Traveler Bio

大家好 (sounds like "Da-jia hao"), or as we say in English, hello everyone! My name is Miles Iton, and I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, where I was able to experience many cultures at once as a child. My mother is originally from the island of Jamaica, and my father is from the island of St. Vincent. They both encouraged me to explore both my American and Caribbean backgrounds. Since then, I've taken an interest in studying different cultures, religions and ways of life around the world. After high school, I moved to Sarasota, Florida, a city on the west coast of the state. I studied philosophy at New College of Florida. I learned a lot more outside of classes, though, as I also took on roles as president of my student government and founder of an entertainment group. I discovered that creating art with communities is my passion. This is something I've been able to explore through filmmaking, DJing and emceeing in my spare time. Thanks to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, I am now living in Tainan, Taiwan. Currently, I am a graduate student at National Cheng Kung University in the Creative Industry Design department. Being in an entirely new land (and learning a new language to boot!) has been both a challenge and a blast. I hope you have just as much fun following along with my journey, and I look forward to sharing these new experiences with you all! Let's go!
