¡Hola a todos! Hi everyone! My name is Miguel, and I am a Gilman Scholar studying in Valencia, Spain! I grew up in Texas and have traveled all around the western United States and Mexico. Currently, I go to school at The University of Texas at Arlington where I study political science, which means I get to learn all about how the government works and how you and I can change it.
Since I was a kid, I have enjoyed traveling and learning about different cultures and the people behind them. Although it wasn’t always possible for my family to travel, I knew that one day I would be able to see the world. This dream is what inspired me to study abroad in Spain, where I will be improving my Spanish skills while living in a completely new part of the world!
As the first person in my family to go to college, I have always been presented with new experiences which bring their own set of challenges. However, I have learned not to quit when things get hard. Instead, these situations have taught me important lessons on how to rise to the challenges that life throws your way. I hope that by sharing my study abroad experience, I will inspire all of you to not only take on the world but to take on everyday challenges with an open mind. With that being said... ¡Vámonos!
