Traveler Bio

Olá! My name is Ketan Brodeur, I'm 23 years old and I'm from the suburbs of Lansing, Michigan. I studied cellular and molecular biology at the University of Michigan, while also taking Portuguese classes--the language spoken in Brazil. I decided to take Portuguese at the time becuase of the Brazilian soccer superstar Neymar. I'm currently doing a research project in the northern Amazonian state of Brazil called Pará. I live in the  capital, Belém, where I do malaria research at the Federal University of Pará.

In my spare time I like to play soccer, chess, dance and explore! One of the main reasons I applied for the Fulbright Research Grant was to work and live in another country. I have always wanted to explore the Amazon and now that I'm living here at a city located at the mouth of the Amazon river, I have the perfect opportunity to make this dream a reality. I'm looking forward to sharing a part of my daily routine and I hope to share with you all the unique blend of customs and cultures practiced here as well as the work that I do in the laboratory. Let's go!
