I wanted to work on my Spanish reading comprehension, so I searched the shelves at my university library until I encountered the name of an author I'd been recommended before: Junot Diaz. I was immediately sucked into the story and have been reading during every spare second I have!
Three days a week from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. I go to a fitness class at my university called atletismo (athletics). The trainer, who we call “profe,” puts a list of exercises on the whiteboard and we go down the list of different cardio and strength training exercises. This week he made the joke that since it was “cold” he needed to have us work extra hard to warm up.
This weekend was Colombia's Valentine's Day, called el Día de Amor y Amistad (Day of Love and Friendship). Stores were decorated with hearts, restaurants were full of celebrating families and friends and, best of all, everywhere was stocked with special chocolates. The holiday was the same night that we saw the show in the park and it was really sweet to be surrounded by people celebrating with their loved ones. I'm excited to buy that discount post-holiday chocolate now.
