Frances' Journey to Germany

Current Location

Trier Germany

Wilkommen! (Welcome!) Join me on my trip to Trier, Germany! I’ll be teaching English to the students of the Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium, all while exploring this beautiful historic city.

This week I took a trip to a tiny town called Lahnstein. I visited a castle, ate some good food and saw lots of beautiful riverside scenes!

Since this week's journal prompt is "recognizing other perspectives," I wanted to write about how my race affects how I am treated in Germany.

Field Notes

Every year, many refugees are granted asylum in Germany. This week I looked for ways that German communities help out their new members.

Every town in Germany has its own Weihnachtsmarkt, or Christmas market. These last for about a month, and fill the town with food, art, music and more!
