Hello, it's nice to meet you! My name is Andrew, and I am a global studies major from the University of California, Santa Barbara, currently studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea. I applied for and received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which has helped me make this study abroad opportunity possible.
Lately, there has been a huge international wave of people that are interested in South Korean pop culture. This has caused an increased interest in South Korean culture and has given South Korea cultural influence throughout the world. As someone who is half-Korean, I have learned that identity can be complex, and I decided to come to Korea to explore what it means to be an American and multi-ethnic in today's globalizing world.
