Traveler Bio

Hallo! (Hello!) My name is Yasmin Harrington, I am 22 years old, and I am going to be teaching English in Munich for the next year. I am originally from the small town of Swindon, England and I moved to Cumming, Georgia when I was eight years old. Moving to a new county when I was little was scary at first, but I soon made lots of new friends in America. My family even goes back to visit England every so often to visit family. At home, I have a younger brother and a younger sister, as well as a dog and a cat that I love very much.

I just recently graduated college from Furman University in South Carolina, where I studied biology and German. Through my biology classes, I was able to learn all about living things from super small cells to towering tall trees. And through German, I not only learned about the German language but also a variety of different parts of German culture. I truly fell in love with the German when I studied abroad in Berlin in the spring of 2018 and was able to see the country for myself.

Now I am very excited to be returning to a different part of Germany as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. I will be working at two different schools to help people learn English. It is crazy to me that I almost didn’t take German in college and I would not be heading to Germany now. It just shows how trying new things can turn out to be fun and exciting. I am truly looking forward to the next year and sharing my journey here with you!
