Hi! My name is Sosa, and I’ll be spending this winter studying the stars and galaxies in Cape Town, South Africa! The sky is very clear in Cape Town, which makes it the perfect spot to look at the universe. I’m currently 20 years old and a third-year student at Dartmouth College, where I am majoring in Physics and Government. My family is Nigerian, and I grew up in Newark, New Jersey—it is like a satellite city of New York City. My trip to South Africa will be my first trip abroad!

I am very glad to be working with Mr. Alex Siriani's fifth-grade students at PS 157x Grove Hill School in Bronx, New York! I actually live pretty close to New York City, as I am in Newark, NJ—12 minutes from Manhattan by train. I lived in Harlem for three months a few years ago.

A little background more background about me: I got a scholarship to attend Dartmouth when I was a high school senior. The college encourages study abroad and provides financial aid to do so—about 55% of Dartmouth students study abroad at some point. At Dartmouth, one of my disciplines is Physics, and the physics department sponsors the study abroad in Cape Town for physics and astronomy majors.

I arrived in South Africa on the night of January 7. The city is beautiful.
