Grüße aus Deutschland! (Greetings from Germany!)
Welcome to our shared journey to Chemnitz, Germany! I am so happy to share my joys, challenges and experiences with you. I look forward to engaging with you and answering any questions you may have about Chemnitz or Germany or international travel in general.
Before we get going, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Solina Jean-Louis, and I am 22 years old. I am originally from Atlanta, Georiga. My dad's side of the family is from Haiti, a country in the Caribbean. So, until I was four years old, I lived in Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti. As a Haitian-American who lived in a country outside of the United States as a child, my world was shaped by different cultures. With family living in two countries, I was forced to see the world as a multicultural, complex place. I believe this was the first thing that sparked my interest in discovering a world outside of Atlanta or even the United States.
Although I am Haitian-American and lived in Haiti for many years as a child, I consider Atlanta my home. Atlanta is a wonderful, diverse and lively city. It is full of so many different cultures, religions and traditions. Growing up there, I didn't fully appreciate how amazing the city is. Now, however, I am so proud to say that I come from this city.
