Traveler Bio

¡Hola parceros!

My name is Sara Pancerella, and I am from Manassas, Virginia. I just graduated in May of 2017 from the University of Virginia where I studied Foreign Affairs, Spanish and Latin American Studies! (Go Cavaliers!) With my passion for learning about other cultures, speaking Spanish and teaching, I decided to apply for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Colombia!

Thanks to Fulbright, I'll be living in Manizales, Colombia for ten months while teaching English at La Universidad Nacional de Colombia. I arrived in Manizales at the end of July, and I feel very settled into my life here. Manizales is a small city surrounded by spectacular views, because it is nestled high up in the Andes Mountains. It's never too hot or too cold, but it rains at least once a day. (I never leave without an umbrella!) Not many people speak English here, so I am very grateful for my Spanish skills!

In my spare time, I love to read, write and spend time with my friends, but my absolute favorite thing to do is travel! Over the past five months, I've flown and bussed all around Colombia, seen beautiful places and gotten to know wonderful people. I am so excited to share my cultural experiences throughout this country and I can't wait to hear your unique insights and questions!
