Bonjour from France! I’m Ryan, and I am very excited to share my experience living in Lyon, a city in France, with you all! To start off our journey together, I would love to tell you a bit about myself and why I decided to study abroad, and then give you a bit more information about Lyon.
By way of background, I grew up in New York City, which is often called a "Melting Pot" because of the many different cultures and nationalities throughout the city. By trying different cuisines, meeting new people, and doing new things in NYC I learned about and came to appreciate places all over the world. After graduating high school, I traveled to New Hampshire to attend Dartmouth College. That’s where I’m studying right now! I am currently a sophomore (meaning I have been there for two years and have two years left until I graduate), and I am studying Geography and Mathematics.
I applied to study abroad in France after learning French in high school. I have not studied the language for two years, so my skills might be a bit rusty. I hope that going to France will improve my language skills and show me how people in a different country experience day to day life.
I am specifically living and studying in the city of Lyon which is located in the southeastern part of France.
