This part of the forest mostly consists of plants, with very few animals. Our guide told us that it was because the forest was very, very old and during that scientific period, that's how they developed. Helechos sadly fall really easily, especially with a heavy wind, because they don't have deep roots. When they fall, the top of the tree opens itself like a bowl and starts collecting dirt and water that fall in it, enabling it to grow again.
There are multiple animals that only exist in the Amazonian region of Bolivia. There's the Chapibara, which is the biggest rodent in the world. I didn't get to see it in person, but in photos it looks like a guinea pig the size of a donkey. There are also many monkeys and a type of smaller alligator that only exists in Bolivia, but again, I didn't get to see either of these in person.
