Hola! That means "Hello" in Spanish. My name is Rachel Birkley and I am writing to you from the small town of Logroño, which is located in Spain. You might be wondering who is this "Rachel person" and also where in the world is Spain? Don’t worry, I will fill you in on everything!
First of all, I am Rachel! I grew up in a small town, called Lisle, which is close to Chicago, Illinois. I am 23 years old and I studied elementary education and Spanish at my college. I graduated last June from North Central College. I like to spend time with my friends and family, read and travel. So far I have visited 43 of the 50 U.S. states and, as of this past week, 18 different countries. I hope to visit many more countries this year!
Now, where in the world is Spain? It is very far from the United States. You have to take an airplane to get here. Spain is located in the South of Europe, which is one of the seven continents of the world. It borders France and Portugal. Spain is different from the United States in many ways. First, they have a king and a queen of Spain. In the United States, we have a president. I had the opportunity to meet the King of Spain, Felipe VI, this past October. He was so nice and very tall.
