Traveler Bio

Hola! Hello! My name is Princess Agina. Encantado de conocerte! It is a pleasure to meet you! I am from Houston, Texas, home of the NASA Johnson Space Center and the famous phrase, "Houston, we have a problem." Houston is also known as the most diverse major city in the United States. In fact, it is where my mother (who is from Jamaica) and my father (who is from Nigeria) met! Located just outside of Houston is Prairie View A&M University, where I studied marketing and psychology.

Growing up in a diverse household in such a diverse city, I developed a huge passion for exploration and inter-cultural learning. I have studied abroad in Ghana (a beautiful West African country); worked in New York City (also known as the "Big Apple"); served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a rural, indigenous town in Costa Rica; enjoyed delicious Cajun cuisine whilst living in New Orleans (the home of Jazz music!); and gazed at the wonders of the Mauna Kea volcano while living on the beautiful Island of Hawai´i (also known as the "Big Island").

Now, as I begin my new journey as a Fulbright grantee in Merida, Mexico, I am beyond excited. Merida is the vibrant capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan known for its rich Mayan and Spanish heritage and its beautiful ancient Mayan temples. I am so thrilled to explore this wondrous city and learn about its unique culture with you!
